Julie Davidow
Julie Davidow employs biomorphic imagery in her paintings, drawings,
and installation works that seem to grow right on the wall -
transitioning, mutating, and reproducing. Her work is informed
by her interest in the natural, environmental, and medical sciences.
Born in Miami, Florida, she received her BA in Advertising from
the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, and attended
New World School of the Arts in Miami on scholarship.
Her work has been exhibited at The National Museum of Women in
the Arts in Washington, DC; The Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art
in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; The Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, FL; and
The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem,
NC. Locally, she has exhibited her work Ambrosino Gallery, Rocket
Projects, Edge Zones, and the ArtCenter/South Florida. She is
a recipient of the Leo and Raye Chestler Contemporary Visual
Arts Award and is currently an artist-in-residence at the ArtCenter/South
Florida on Miami Beach.
