Joyce Kim
Joyce Kim lives and works in New York. Her work is engaged
in the critique of painting. While they perhaps appear
to be thematically abstract, they are referencing a group
of less known flower paintings by modernist masters such
as Mondrian and Manet. Past installations and projects
have explored painting's emotional ambiguity as an object
in the context of cultural relevance and relationship to
other contemporary art practices. Her recent projects include
photography a concept involved in creating subtext, a corollary
for my painting projects. The work has been exhibited in
New York as well as internationally and it has been reviewed
by Flash Art, The Modern Painters, Contemporary among others.
